Mrs. Thompson

Changes the appearance of the flowers rather randomly, which makes it so interesting. Named after Mrs. N. G. Thompson from Escrick near York (UK), who in 1950 sent the flower to a meeting of the RHS Scientific Commitee which at that point was chaired by E. A. Bowles. Large well grown bulbs of this variety have the capacity to produce very large flowers with 5 to 8 outer segments, occasionally with several flowers fused on one pedicel. Mid season. Slow to increase.
